Liszt Institute London is delighted to welcome internationally acclaimed pianist
Alexandra Balog back to London following her May Carnegie Hall debut in New York.
Hailed by Radio Bartók’s New Music News for her ‘elemental force, virtuosity, and energy,’ and described by Forbes as ‘a Hungarian pianist who is a real wonder creature,’ Alexandra has captivated audiences across the globe with sold-out performances and standing ovations.
Winner of the 2017 Béla Bartók International Piano Competition in Graz, she has since gone on to receive the Talentum Hungaricum Award (2020), the Junior Príma Prize (2023)—Hungary’s most prestigious accolade for young musicians—and, most recently, First Prize at the 2024 Franz Liszt Centre International Piano Competition in La Nucia, Spain.
As a soloist, Alexandra has performed with orchestras including the Savaria Symphony Orchestra, the Szent István Philharmonic, the Danube Symphony Orchestra, the Resonate Chamber Orchestra, and the orchestra of the Royal Academy of Music. Her recital engagements have taken her to major venues in Hungary, the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, La Chapelle Musicale in Brussels, and to audiences across Europe, the United States, Mexico, Russia, China, and the Philippines. Her upcoming season includes performances in Paris, Vienna, Berlin, Budapest, Tokyo, Shanghai, Beijing, and London.
A passionate advocate for young talent, Alexandra is the Founder and Artistic Director of the Altalena Music Festival and Summer Academy, and a leading member of Altalena Young Artists, a vibrant community of outstanding young musicians. In 2024, she was recognised on Forbes’ ’30 Successful Hungarians Under 30′ list for her achievements both on and off the stage.
A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London, Alexandra also holds an Artist Diploma from the University of Music in Graz and is currently pursuing advanced performance studies at the Bard College Conservatory of Music in New York, supported by a Fulbright Scholarship.
Join us for this special evening and experience the artistry of one of the most exciting pianists of her generation, as she performs on our new concert grand piano.
We look forward to seeing you there!
