Solo is an award-winning tour de force by Radim Vizváry, acclaimed Czech mime, director, choreographer, and Artistic Director of Laterna Magica Prague. Hailed internationally, most recently at Expo Osaka, this spellbinding performance takes audiences on a journey through the full spectrum of pantomime — from the elegance of classical mime to the raw intensity of butoh, from razor-sharp physical comedy to the bold invention of contemporary mime theatre. Visually striking, deeply human, and at times laugh-out-loud funny, Solo is both a masterclass in wordless storytelling and pantomime reborn — timeless, daring, and unforgettable.

ABOUT RADIM VIZVÁRY
Radim Vizvary is a prominent figure in European contemporary physical mime theatre. He is a mime artist, author, stage director, choreographer, and teacher. He teaches at the Music and Dance Faculty of Prague’s Academy of Performing Arts. He holds the role of Artistic Director for The Laterna Magika Ensemble, The Mime Prague Company, The International Mime Fest, and the international street festival in Tabor. Vizváry received numerous accolades in the Czech Republic, various European countries, and the USA, including the 2016 Thalia Prize.
Vizváry’s “Solo” has become a silent legend, still receiving standing ovations after years of playing. It shouldn’t be, since the performer takes constant care of it and continuously modifies the individual performances. “Solo” carries a cross-section of the genre from the days of Jean Gaspard Deburau’s “Pierot” romantic pantomime, through Marcel Marceau’s modern mime, clownery, and contemporary physical theatre and conceptual art… And no other production has yet emerged that has a similar ambition, to make pantomime non-violently accessible to audiences and to show its wide range.
